FAQs

Below are a range answers to some questions that you might have.  Please have a read and get in touch with me if you have any further questions, to get a quote and to book me for your event.

What age is face painting suitable for?

The minimum age for face painting is 3. There is no upper age limit.

Why is the minimum age 3?

There are a variety of reasons.  These can vary painter to painter.  However, some of the most common reasons for not face painting under 3s include:

- insurance

- skin sensitivities and increased likelihood of developing an allergy

- wriggly children

- not mature enough to follow instructions/not to touch face/lick paint

- sometimes being scared of not seeing themselves in the mirror

Who else won't you paint?

I won't paint anyone who:

- doesn't want to be painted.  The person must being willing and engage of their own free will.

- is unwell.  This includes, but is not limited to, anyone with a cough, cold, COVID, broken skin, eczema, sunburn, conjunctivitis, chicken pox etc.

- anyone being rude or abusive.

How do I remove face painting?

Face paint is easily removed with soap and water.  However, it is important to know that some paints can be harder to remove and may 'stain' the skin.  Some colours, such as greens and reds, are known to stain skin more easily than others.  Different skin types may also be more prone to staining.

What do I do if the paint has stained skin?

Firstly, don't panic!  It will come off.  But, if after a couple of washes with a cloth with soap and water does not shift the paint then Micellar Water has been proven to be an effective remover.  We are not liable for any staining of the skin.

Other staining.

Face paint can stain fabrics, such as clothes or bed sheets and inflatables, such as bouncy castles.  We will not be held liable for any staining that may occur to other items and strongly advise that all face paint is removed before going to bed.

What products are used/hygiene?

All face paints that are used are professional paints that are purchased only from reputable distributors.  Hygiene is of the upmost importance.  I change my water regularly and use a fresh sponge for each person being painted.

Are you insured?

Yes! I am fully insured for the services I provide.

What information do you need to make a booking?

I need to know:

- Your full name

- Purpose of the event (e.g. Sam's 5th birthday, Nick's 40th birthday, wedding, corporate summer event etc.)

- Date of event

- Time of event

- Number of people (aged 3 and over) expected to be painted

- Theme of party and if this is to be adhered to (e.g. teddy bear's picnic and all children must have teddies)

- Full address of the event

- Your email address

- Your phone number

- Any other useful information

Do I need to pay a deposit?

To secure your date and time, a non-refundable booking fee will be required.  You will be sent an invoice along with terms and conditions.  The terms and conditions will outline cancellation fees etc.

How many people can you paint in an hour?

Typically 10-12 per hour.  On average a 2 hour party I suggest up to 25 children. Depending on the numbers, I may need to provide 2 artists.

How old do you need to be for airbrush tattoos?

3 is the minimum age for air brush tattoos.  Because of the noise that the compressor can make and the cool air it emits, some younger children may not be too keen on the sensation.

Will you put a tattoo on the face?

No!  I will only put a tattoo on the arm, leg or torso.

How do I remove the air brush tattoo and how long will it last?

Air brush tattoos are water resistant, which means you can dip in the pool or in the shower and it will not wash off.  I use a face paint grade product, this lasts for a few days, although some fading may occur depending on skin type, if the tattoo is rubbed and on what products it's come in contact with, e.g. chlorine.  Soap and water should remove the tattoo, but if not, then an oil based product or surgical spirit should do the job!

What events do you attend and where?

I'll go almost wherever you need me to be! I am based in Hertfordshire, UK on the Essex/North London borders.  I
